(WPRI) - They've spent the summer touring the country, and this weekend the American Idols Live Tour makes a stop at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, where you can see all of this season's finalists performing on stage, including Rhode Island's own Erika Van Pelt.
Pelt has been touring since June with the other finalists and said she is having a blast.
"It's been wild, it's been totally wild. Everything I expected and everything I didn't expect."
Pelt said she has been waiting to perform in Providence all summer and cannot wait for Sunday.
"Being the person who went out the soonest on the tour has put me in sort of an interesting place. People are getting to see a side of me they didn't get to see on the show, which is really cool. So certainly coming home means that much more to me. Which is really awesome."
At Sunday's show fans can expect to see a lot of dancing and high energy. Pelt also said she is in "a good amount of numbers", so that's some good news for Rhode Island fans who cheered her on during American Idol.
When asked what she thought about Mariah Carey being a judge on Idol, Pelt said "I am totally happy about Mariah. Honestly, I kind of wish that she had been on my season as well. I feel like she is such a powerhouse vocalist and I feel like she's going to help bring the focus back to the singing."
The American Idols live tour wraps up on September 11 in Milwaukee.
