PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- In 1979, a handful of music fans were disappointed when their favorite band canceled their Rhode Island performance. 34 years later, they'll finally get their money's worth.
Famous English rock band The Who will take the stage at the Dunkin' Donuts Center tonight for the last stop on their Quadrophenia Tour Tuesday night. This will be the first time The Who visits Rhode Island since the late 70's, when they were forced to cancel their show.
Fans who were planning on attending back in 1979 were told their 34-year-old tickets would be honored at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Tuesday. 32 fans were able to find their old tickets and will finally see the show they paid for.
"It has been an exciting time in anticipation of the show," said Lawrence Lepore, SMG's general manager. "And we are so pleased that the wait is over and the packed house at the Dunk tonight will get to see these great legends of Rock & Roll."
Lepore thanked AEG Live for the opportunity to bring The Who back to Providence.
