EAST GREENWICH, R.I. - A new, fully-staffed advanced life support rescue is now stationed at station 2 on Frenchtown Road in East Greenwich.
The change came after lengthy negotiations between the East Greenwich Fire District and local firefighters union.
East Greenwich's fire chief say the rescue was needed due to the rapid growth of medical facilities in the town, especially along South County Trail.
The station now has both a fully staffed ALS rescue and engine 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Station 2 goes from two full-time firefighters to four full-time firefighters.
