CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- Cranston's mayor has sent his condolences to a local grandmother and grandfather who lost their young grandson in last week's deadly school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Henry and Theresa Moretti's grandson is 6-year-old Dylan Hockley, one of the 20 children killed in the mass shooting Friday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Six adults were also gunned down.
"On behalf of all the Cranston residents, we offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Moretti family, because it was their grandson who was impacted," Fung said. "It really is a tragic time and to have it hit so close locally is certainly very difficult to comprehend."
Moretti told the Boston Herald her grandson "had the most mischievous little grin. To know him was to love him."
"Dylan had dimples and blue eyes, he was an angel, and I think that's now why he's in heave," Moretti told the paper of her little grandson.
A memorial has been set up in Dylan's remembrance. Contributions may be made to the Dylan Hockley Memorial Fund, 34 Charter Ridge Road, Sandy Hook, CT, 06482.
