CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- A local man escaped serious injury when his car crashed through the front of a Cranston business Saturday morning.
Police tell Eyewitness News that the driver of the Ford Mustang was on his way home from work at about 8:30 when he veered off Reservoir Avenue and crashed through the first floor of St. Jude Home Care.
The crash was caught on the building's surveillance camera as glass and debris filled the room.
Two women who were inside the building at the time ran to help the man, who was briefly trapped in the car by a piece of debris against the door. After they helped the driver out, he was taken to the hospital complaining of leg pain.
Police aren't yet sure what caused the crash but no other cars were involved. The city building inspector says the building's support beams were not damaged and the structure is still solid.
The Mustang appeared to be a total loss.
