CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - A 90-year-old World War II veteran from Coventry has been recognized for her service.
Euphemia Ellen Fagan Nichols served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a storekeeper from 1942 to 1945.
On Friday afternoon, Sen. Jack Reed presented her with the Victory Medal.
The attention to orders reads: "The following award is announced 'The World War II Victory Medal' is awarded to Euphemia Ellen Fagan Nichols who distinguished herself during World War II. Ms. Nichols' dedication to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Navy and the United States of America."
Nicholas also received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Navy Discharge Button, and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
