BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI)- State and local dignitaries came out Sunday to help mark Veterans Day at a Bristol event.
Eyewitness News spoke with a 90-year-old World War II Veteran who has no trouble remembering his time serving our country.
Al Benharris was a cook aboard a submarine chaser whose job was to escort U.S. ships.
Benharris says he never thought twice about serving his country and has a message for current troops.
"In my opinion the world is changing dramatically. We're not the beloved nation that maybe we once were. We have to be very careful because there's a lot of people out there that want what we have and want their way", Benharris said.
These days, he says he spends much of his time writing for Veteran newspapers.
