PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- Two weeks after Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, Rhode Island residents continue to help out the hardest hit areas of New York and New Jersey.
Whether its making donations or holdings a fundraiser, residents have come together.
Vanity restaurant and bar held a special event Monday night, with the help from the U.S.. Bartenders Guild.
Frank Martucci put this event together after he went to New York last week to help out.
Dozens came out to Vanity to support this great cause. All tips from the night went to hurricane relief and donations were accepted.
Other Rhode Islanders have responded in their own ways.
Peter Fucci lead Rhode Island's Disaster Medical Assistance Team.
While Sandy was assaulting New York, Fucci and 30 team members responded.
For two weeks, they helped more than 600 people at the Brooklyn Armory.
Donations from Vanity's event will also go to Rhode Island areas hit by Sandy and Fucci said he hopes to go back to Brooklyn to volunteer some more of his time.
