PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)-- A Providence middle school teacher charged with assaulting police had her day in court Tuesday.
According to the Rhode Island Judiciary's website, Jane O'Connell pleaded not guilty during her arraignment at Kent County District Court and was released on personal recognizance.
O'Connell has been on administrative leave since her arrest in early February . She is accused of yelling at and threatening police officers at Seven Moons Restaurant on Feb. 2, North Kingstown police said.
Emergency responders were called to the Post Road business for a report of an intoxicated person who had fallen off a bar stool, police tell Eyewitness News.
When police tried to take O'Connell into custody, they said she kicked at officers and caused one officer to fall and suffer a concussion.
