PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Charlie Brown and his pals may have been happy with the bleak, diminutive tree used in their Christmas celebration, but the city of Providence has announced they're looking for the "perfect tree" for this year's tree lighting ceremony.
The annual downtown event is scheduled for December 1 at the Bank of America City Center, and the city is reaching out to the public to find the right tree for the job.
City officials are seeking a 35-45 foot spruce or fir tree to be displayed throughout the holiday season. The winning tree will be cut down and hauled away from the owner's property free of charge.
To nominate a tree, send an e-mail with a photo or description to Providence's Cultural Affairs Manager in the Department of Art, Culture & Tourism, Deb Dormody, at email@example.com.
All submissions must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 14.
