PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Providence City Councilman is holding a collection drive for Hurricane Sandy relief for Staten Island.

Councilman Terrence Hassett has organized the "Rhode Island Help for Staten Island" fundraising and donation event at Patrick's Pub at 381 Smith Street.  The event runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and organizers help to collect much-needed items for distribution on Staten Island, New York, which was hit very hard by the storm.

Items being sought include blankets, non-perishable food, and other household items.  Anyone wishing to donate can call Patrick's Pub at 401-751-1553 with any questions about what is needed.
