NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) -- Narragansett police have arrested three men and charged with a string of break-ins that occurred during Hurricane Sandy.

Police said they received a report of a B&E at a house on South Pier Road on Monday, October 26.  Later, on October 30, there were 10 reported break-ins in the Scarborough Hills neighborhood.  Detectives say that at the time the neighborhood was still largely evacuated because of the storm.

All the houses broken into were entered through doors and windows, and money, jewelry and assorted electronics were taken.

Friday, East Providence police officers arrested three East Providence Residents: 24-year-old Matthew Andrade, 18-year-old Mario Estrela, and 20-year-old Joao Pacheco.  All three were charged with attempted breaking and entering in an unrelated incident in East Providence.

Narragansett police detectives had already determined that those three were their suspects and obtained arrest warrants, ultimately charging Pacheco with ten counts of Breaking and Entering, charging Estrela with eleven counts of Breaking and Entering, and Andrade for one count of Breaking and Entering.

Pacheco and Estrela were both released on bail, while Andrade remains at the ACI until his re-arraignment Monday.
