PawSox take lead in division with win

(WPRI) - The Pawtucket Red Sox are back atop the I.L. North Division after an 8-1 win in Louisville on Monday night. Coupled with the Scranton loss in Gwinnett, Pawtucket has a half game advantage in the standings.

Billy Buckner turned in his best performance in a Pawtucket uniform. The righty (2-5) went seven innings, scattering 4 hits and allowing one unearned run. Buckner struck out 5, and walked one.

Daniel Bard looked sharp in his one inning of relief. Bard retired the Bats in order. He threw 11 pitches, 8 for strikes. He fanned one hitter. Chris Carpenter pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

The PawSox scored three in the third, two in the fifth and three more in the ninth to improve to 58-46. The PawSox outhit Louisville 16-4.

Pawtucket begins a four game series in Indianapolis on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Zach Stewart (1-1, 3.81) gets the ball for the PawSox.
