PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - There are reports that former Providence College basketball player Marvin Barnes has been arrested again.
According to our news partners at the Providence Journal, Barnes was arrested for solicitation of a minor.
Barnes is accused of trying to have sex with a 17-year-old Cranston girl who was in his mentoring program for at risk youths, according to reports.
The Providence Journal reports, Barnes was arraigned at the Cranston Police Department Monday on a felony charge of soliciting a minor. He was released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
Barnes is scheduled to return to court March 19.
He helped lead PC to the Final Four in 1973 and was the second overall pick in the 1974 NBA draft, before drugs derailed his professional career.
PC retired his jersey in 2008.
Barnes has been arrested numerous times on drug charges, most recently for cocaine possession in Johnston back in 2007.
