LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - The Lincoln High School girls' basketball season is over, but the year was a huge success which might be surprising if your know the history of the program.
Lincoln won the regular season title and had a school record in wins this year, and that's four years removed from being one of the worst teams in the state.
Before current coach Christina Sheehan took the head coaching job, the team was winless, but Sheehan has slowly rebuilt the program.
"I think the kids really dedicated themselves and realized that something could be made of Lincoln School basketball, and, at that point, we really elevated [our game]."
"It definately wasn't easy in the start," senior Jenna Lemoi said. "Just being the underdog and finally coming up and winning the championship this year, it's great to have your name be a part of something like that."
