OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Andrew Nicholson scored a season-high 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as St. Bonaventure handed Rhode Island its fifth consecutive loss, beating the Rams 81-61 on Saturday.
Nicholson was 12 of 15 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and 6 of 7 from the free-throw line for the Bonnies who shot 50 percent (25 of 50) from the field.
St. Bonaventure (15-10, 8-5 Atlantic 10 Conference) jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead and pushed that advantage to 20, 32-12, behind a Nicholson dunk with 7:16 left in the first half.
The Bonnies took a 48-26 lead into halftime and didn't allow the Rams to get any closer than 16 in the second half.
Rhode Island (5-24, 2-12) was held to just 34 percent (19 of 56) from the field, including 4 of 17 from deep.
St. Bonaventure dished out 18 team assists.
Mike Powell led the Rams with 20.
