CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Evan Marzilli is the one person who can claim back-to-back Rhode Island high school baseball championships and a 2010 NCAA title.

Marzilli won his latest championship as part of the South Carolina Gamecocks in only his freshman year.

The Cranston native batted .385 for South Carolina with an on-base percentage over .500.

"It's half luck, half hard work, I guess," Marzilla told Eyewitness Sports.

But his jump into big time, championship college baseball took some adjustment.

"Playing in front of 50 people, to a couple thousand is a big change, but Hendricken prepared me well for it," Marzilla added.

But there is no rest for the weary.  Marzilli will soon head to New Hampshire to keep his skills sharp in summer ball.
