Bruins' Stuart has surgery on finger

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Bruins say defenseman Mark Stuart has undergone surgery on a finger injured during a weekend fight on the ice.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said the surgery, performed on Monday by Dr. Matthew Leibman at Massachusetts General Hospital, was successful and Stuart will miss about four weeks.

Stuart injured the pinky finger on his right hand after nailing Anze Kopitar with a clean but high hit when Boston hosted the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.

The hit prompted the Kings' Wayne Simmonds to go after Stuart, triggering a fight during which Simmonds picked up an extra minor, plus a 10-minute misconduct in addition to his fighting major.

Stuart was out for part of December and early January with a broken sternum.
