CRANSTON, RI - You cannot run away from this horrible, cruel and shocking event that is what Father Ron Brassard told parishioners at the Immaculate Conception Church during Saturdays 4 pm mass.

He was referring to the 26 victims of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, which left many church goers with heavy hearts.

Father Brassard urged parishioners to pray, love and eliminate violence in our lives. He prepared his homily saddened by the tragedy and knowing church members may be looking toward  god and their faith following the school shooting.

"We cannot allow this evil to destroy us, for Christ is our light," says father Brassard.
