WALTHAM, Mass. (WPRI) - On Monday, Gov. Deval Patrick declared a State of Emergency in Massachusetts.  Three days of relentless rain are causing heavy flooding in many communities.

In Waltham, MA, emergency crews had to use front end loaders to rescue more than eighty people forced out of their apartment building by flooding.

Water levels reached almost five feet, making it difficult to evacuate.

Gov. Patrick issued a stern warning to drivers, "use extreme care. Even what seems like a little bit of water, a couple of feet is enough to wash a car away.
Take your time, be careful."

The National Weather Service says this storm could produce some of the heaviest rain in Massachusetts since 2006.
