Ted Nugent insults Rep. Langevin after SOTU

Rock star invited to attend event in Washington

WASHINGTON (WPRI) -- A war of words has begun between a normally mild-mannered local politician and world famous rock star.

Ted Nugent was invited to attend President Obama's fifth State of the Union Address Tuesday night as a guest of  Texas Congressman Steve Stockman. U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin said the gun enthusiast's attendance would be inappropriate, considering Nugent's comment at an NRA last year that he'd be “dead or in jail by this time next year” if Obama was reelected.

One of the president's biggest talking points Tuesday night was gun control, a topic which Langevin has been an outspoken supporter of leading up to the speech. In January, the congressman introduced legislation seeking to reduce gun violence in America.

In response to Langevin's comment, Nugent called him a "Ted hater" and said that "he probably has [expletive] for brains."

In an interview with WPRO radio Wednesday morning, Langevin laughed off the Nuge's remarks, saying "I like a couple of his songs, but I'm not a frequent listener."
