PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's general treasurer has hired a new chief investment officer to manage the state's $7.3 billion pension system.

Anne-Marie Fink will also serve as deputy treasurer of finance. She served most recently as managing director and a portfolio manager at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

In making the announcement on Monday, Treasurer Gina Raimondo said Fink understands the importance of retirement security and will work to manage the portfolio's risk and volatility while also producing steady returns.

Fink is a graduate of Yale University and got her MBA in finance and international business from Columbia Business School.

She replaces Kenneth Goodreau, who managed the pension system for the past four years.
