MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (CNN/KODE/KSNF) - Two Missouri inmates are accused of making a daring escape from a McDonald County jail. But it's their attempt to sneak back in that's got people talking.
Authorities say Justin Forcum and Eric Bishop escaped late Tuesday night in search of meth. Hours later, officials say they drove back to the jail and set fire to a stolen truck as a diversion.
They were busted trying to get back inside the jail. It's believed the men returned to avoid a mandatory five-year sentence for escaping from jail.
The county sheriff hasn't seen anything like it.
"They worked their tails off to get out and did escape, and then snuck back into the jail. That's the real funny or unusual part of this thing," said Sheriff Robert Evenson.
Here's the kicker. The sheriff says Eric Bishop was supposed to be released from jail sometime this week. Now he and the other inmate face additional charges.
