ORLANDO, Fla. (CNN/WKMG) - They say cats have nine lives and in this case, a cat gave his owner a second chance at life.

Jennifer Chap says she was working in her home office when Buddy, her cat, started misbehaving.

When she picked Buddy up and took him to the kitchen, she found her husband kneeling over the counter. He was going into a sudden cardiac arrest.

Chap gave her husband CPR until paramedics arrived, but she says he still wasn't breathing.

"I just waited and just said a little prayer, and they got a heartbeat," said Jennifer Chap.

After a heart procedure and six months of cardiac rehab, Rick Chap lives to tell his story. He says he owes Buddy his life.
