UMASS law student fugitive from TX

John Ethan Cassidy in possession of AK-47 & pistol

DARTMOUTH, Mass., (WPRI) - A UMASS Dartmouth law student wanted as a fugitive out of Texas is now in police custody.

On Wednesday, authorities arrested John Ethan Cassidy, 26, of Dartmouth while on school grounds.

Authorities were working on a tip that Cassidy was in illegal  possession of multiple guns and ammunition including an AK-47 and a 9MM pistol. He was also accused of assaulting his roommate in a recent altercation.

Cassidy is also a wanted fugitive out of Texas for suspicion possessing explosive components.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on several charges including two counts of possessing a firearm without a FID, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, two counts of improper storage of a large capacity firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
