2 to be arraigned in F. R. pool death

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - Two people facing criminal charges for allegedly letting a Fall River public pool stay open for two days while a woman's body was still in the water - will be in court Tuesday morning.

Brian Shanahan and Jeff Carter will each be arraigned on reckless endangerment of a child charges for re-opening the pool two days between the time of her death and when her body was discovered.

Shanahan was the Regional Director for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation or DCR. Carter was the agency's south coast District Manager.

Marie Joseph, 36, was found dead in the Veterans' Memorial Pool in Lafayette Park in late June after authorities say it went unnoticed in the deep end for days, because the water was murky.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says that no one will be charged directly in connection with Joseph's death.
