Warwick fire victim remembered at game

Funeral arrangemens scheduled

BURRILVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) - A 20-year-old man who was one of five people killed in a house fire in Warwick was honored Monday night by his former high school basketball team.

Mount Saint Charles Academy laid the number 5 jersey once worn by Dan Janik on the bench during their game against Burrillville High School Monday night. The 20-year-old died in a fire in a home on Buttonwoods Avenue in Warwick Saturday .

Janik's girlfriend, 21-year-old Amanda Villeneuve, and their 7-month-old daughter Anabelle were also killed in the fire, as were the couple's two friends, 24-year-old Nicholas Jillson and 20-year-old Tayla Lackey. The four adults all went to Mount Saint Charles in Woonsocket.

The boy's basketball coach said Monday night that Janik's jersey would be laid out at every game for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, family members have announced funeral arrangements for Janik, Villeneuve, and Anabelle. The wake has been scheduled for Friday night at Saint Philip Church on Putnam Pike in Greenville. The funeral is set to take place at the church on Saturday morning.

Funeral arrangements for Nicholas Jillson and Tayla Lackey were not available Monday night.
