WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - A Rhode Island State Police detective killed in a weather-related crash will be laid to rest Thursday.
Hundreds came to pay their respects at the wake for Detective Sergeant James Dougherty, Jr. in Warwick Wednesday evening.
Dougherty died after his car crashed in West Greenwich last weekend . Investigators say his car ran over a large puddle and hydroplaned.
Thursday's funeral is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Saints John & Paul Church in Coventry.
