SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - The University of Rhode Island may soon see changes to the Student Handbook.
The Handbook is due for revision, but Student Senate has proposed to change some of the school's policiies, including proximity to drugs and alcohol .
Under the current handbook, any URI student under the age of 21 caught consuming or possessing alcohol must pay a $50 fine and take a self-assessment survey.
The Student Rights and Responsibilities Committee says they want to change the language of the book, focusing more on what students can do in difficult situation .
