PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI/AP) -- A high wind watch has been issued for Rhode Island and portions of eastern Massachusetts ahead of a strong coastal storm that's headed for the region.
According to Eyewitness News Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello, "The strongest winds are expected Wednesday night along the coast. Winds of this strength are capable of downing some branches and limbs and possibly lead to isolated power outages."
The high wind watch is in effect for early Wednesday morning into early Thursday morning.
The forecast calls for northeast winds at 25-35 miles per hour and could gust to 40-60 miles per hour.
Based on the latest track of the storm, as much as 0.5"-2" of rain is possible with the heaviest rain from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Some street and poor drainage flooding will be possible in any heavier downpours.
