SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) - Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department Of Public Safety, Col. Steven O'Donnell, has announced the promotion of seventeen sworn members of the Rhode Island State Police into new ranking positions.
A promotion ceremony will be held in April, and an announcement will be made when a date is finalized. The following are the promotees:
To the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel:
To the Rank of Major:
To the rank of Captain:
To the rank of Lieutenant:
To the rank of Sergeant:
To the rank of Corporal:
"These talented and committed members of the Rhode Island State Police are clear examples of why their organization has earned a national reputation for excellence. Even among the highly competitive ranks of the State Police, these Troopers stand out. They deserve the thanks and congratulations of the people of our state," said Governor Lincoln Chafee.
Colonel O'Donnell says, "These promotions within the Rhode Island State Police are the most difficult of all my responsibilities. The quality of our members is extraordinary. In making these selections, we recognize the leadership and the work ethic they have brought to the Division of State Police and the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety. These leaders and others will plot the future course of the Division of State Police."
