GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) – A Providence man was hospitalized after he was involved in a car accident on Putnam Pike early Monday morning.

Glocester Police tell Eyewitness News that Chaucy Leahy, 31, was traveling west on Putnam Pike in the area of the White Rock Motel, when he lost control of his vehicle.

His vehicle left the road and struck several trees before flipping on the driver’s side.

Leahy was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say Leahy was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Putnam Pike was closed to all traffic for 2 hours as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Glocester Police.
