BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) - Dr. Frank Pallotta has been named Rhode Island's 2013 Superintendent of the Year.
Pallotta has served as the superintendent in Burrillville since 2009 and was superintendent in Lincoln from 1999 to 2003. He also served as assistant superintendent in Providence prior to that.
His 42 years as an educator have also included service as a teacher, special education director and principal. Pallotta's leadership in Burrillville has brought stability and focus to a district that was looking for such leadership.
Dr. Pallotta received his bachelors and masters degrees from Providence College and his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.
He also served as a member of the North Providence School Committee for 20 years. Pallotta has been a member of RISSA for many years and serves on a number of committees including the Executive Committee, the Legislative Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement in leading his school district, his dedication to the education of all children, his commitment to the community and his service to Rhode Island School Superintendents' Association.
Dr. Pallotta will be honored by the American Association of School Administrators at the National Conference on Education to be held in Los Angeles in February 2013.
