WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - Woonsocket's Police and School Departments have developed and started the Woonsocket Police Lost Child Program.

The  program is designed to help locate any missing child or adult with developmental disabilities or someone who's at a higher risk of becoming lost.

With the information provided by parents or guardians, the Woonsocket Police Juvenile Division will have instant availability to a person's information file.

The file will contain the person's name, photo, address, contact information and any other useful information that may assist in locating the missing person as quickly as possible.

Within seconds of being notified, police can begin a search without losing valuable time gathering information.

The forms will be distributed with the assistance of the Woonsocket School Department and should soon be available on-line at the Woonsocket Police website .

This program is voluntary to parents and guardians of children with special needs who feel their child or adult may wonder or become lost.

All information will be kept confidential, with on access to anyone other than law enforcement personnel, used only for locating a missing person.

There is no cost for the program and the information can be removed at anytime.
