LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) -- A masked man held up a Manville liquor store at gunpoint over the weekend, and police have released surveillance footage of the crime in hopes of securing his identity.
The One Stop Liquor Store on Railroad Street was robbed just before closing Saturday night.
The store's owner has been there for 30 years and has never been robbed before, and his initial reaction to the gunman was a surprising one to say the least.
The surveillance videos show the suspect dressed in all black, holding a gun, walking into the store and forcing the owner behind the counter.
"Totally black mask, and a real gun in his hand, pointing right at my face," said owner Necati Yubasioglu.
The 60-year-old says his initial thought, despite having a gun in his face, was to laugh.
"When we first came face to face I started laughing so much," added Yubasioglu.
Following the crime, the suspect ran off towards Gaulins Street with cash, cigarettes, and peach vodka.
"He grabbed the Ciroc Peach, two of them, and put them in his pocket," Yubasioglu said.
Lincoln police are hoping the patch on the back of the suspect's jacket might be enough of a clue to pinpoint the robber. The insignia is unidentifiable, but officers hope somebody who knows the suspect might be able to identify it.
As for the store owner, he's confident that police will catch him. He tells us he believes the robber has been in the store before because he knew where the peach vodka and registers were.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact the Lincoln Police Department at (401) 441-7204.
