Pawtucket gas leak forces evacuations

Abandoned building has been vacant for one year

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Several employees of a nearby building were evacuated Wednesday morning due to a gas leak inside an abandoned building in Pawtucket.

Crews were called to 1077 Main Street shortly after 9:30 a.m..

Crews on the scene say the building has been empty for about a year.

Employees working nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

National Grid along with Pawtucket fire and police were on the scene, which began to clear around 10:45 a.m.
