FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WPRI) - A sign at the Boost Mobile store on Route 6 in Fairhaven apologizes to customers for being shut down, but doesn't say why.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza of the Fairhaven Police Department explains the reason.

"Not too long after they set up shop, word got out that they were selling drugs from the establishment."

Police raided the store last Friday and found drugs hidden in a filing cabinet and in the ceiling.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Abdul Vargas of New Bedford, who runs the store, and his brother, 26-year-old Alexis Vargas, who works there.

The brothers are accused of selling cocaine, marijuana, and oxycodone from inside the shop.

And to make matters worse, the alleged drug deals were taking place in a school zone.

"There is a day care located approximately five hundred feet away away from the establishment," says Sgt. Kobza, "So there were young children in the immediate area."
