CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - There are new questions regarding the investigation into a teacher at Central Falls High School who is facing criminal charges .
Eyewitness News has learned that the teacher, 22 year-old Emma Wise, had been placed on administrative leave back in November after rumors of misconduct but nothing came of it.
Wise is accused of providing alcohol to students and drinking with them last October after a football game.
Superintendent Francis Gallo said after a meeting Tuesday night that Wise was placed on leave in January after they received a complaint, and that the school was running its own investigation and did not inform police until the 18th, when officials contacted the Central Falls Police Department. The Superintendent confirmed that the State Police were then notified on January 24th.
But the lead detective at the Central Falls Police Department says that any criminal complaint they received would have prompted a police investigation - and they are not involved with the case at all, as State Police are handling the criminal investigation.
Wise has since resigned and is out on bail. She's due back in court next month.
