Volunteers continue post-sandy clean up

WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) – More than two weeks have passed since hurricane Sandy battered Rhode Island shores an one of the areas hardest hit is still a work in progress.

Many loads of sand have been cleared away and the roads are now passable but there is still a lot of work to do at Misquamicut beach.

People all over the state are doing their part to help make sure Westerly's recovery is as fast as possible.
Americore volunteer crews have been helping clean up the mess.

They are performing tasks such as separating debris so it can be picked up and hauled away. The group says they are more than happy to help out.

Even more help is expected to be out this weekend, which would put the total number of volunteers around 900.
