RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's largest fair and agricultural event is continuing through the weekend with events including an animal costume parade and a dung-throwing contest.

The Washington County Fair runs through Sunday in Richmond. The fair, in its 46th year, highlights the importance of agriculture and features livestock exhibits as well as arts and crafts and a variety of other events.

This weekend's scheduled activities include an antique tractor pull, dairy clipping contest, lawnmower races, an arm-wrestling contest, a pie-eating contest, a watermelon seed spitting contest and the annual tug-of-war showdown.

The fair was first held in 1967.
