NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - Local businesses are glad their holiday weekend is back on track after Tropical Storm Earl cleared Southern New England Saturday.
The sun was shining as Eyewitness News headed to Wickford Village in North Kingstown Saturday, a far cry from Friday's heavy wind and rain, that business owners say drove away customers.
Despite the bad weather Friday the owner of a knitting shop, Barbara Cullen, says she was busy leading up to the storm because customers were looking for ways to pass the time while indoors.
Lizzie Shriner agreed, saying knitting projects are a popular way for locals to occupy stormy Summer and Fall days.
Customers were back in Wickford Village Saturday dinning in local restaurants and browsing shops, a sight that is giving local business owners hope that the weekend will not be a total loss.
