Teens accused in string of car breaks

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police arrested three Cranston teens for an attempted break-in in Glocester, and later learned of their involvement in more than 20 area car breaks.

James Clark, 18, and two 17-year-old juveniles were arrested during the early morning hours on Wednesday. Police responded to the report of two males attempting to break into a garage on Durfee Hill Road. Using the given descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle, officers were able to track them down nearby.

Three teens were transported to headquarters for questioning, where it was determined they were in fact involved in the garage break-in attempt.

Police also learned that all three were responsible for more than 20 car breaks in Glocester and Burrillville that occurred last Thursday and Friday. Officers were able to recover many of the stolen items, and will attempt to return them to the victims.

Clark was charged with numerous felony and misdemeanor charges and pleaded not guilty on all counts. He was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and and is scheduled to appear in court in January.

The two juveniles will be charged in family court on felony and misdemeanor charges, and have been released into the custody of their parents.
