NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) - The ferry terminal at Point Judith was a hopping place Wednesday afternoon, as people began to flee block Island ahead of Hurricane Earl.

A Tropical Storm Watch went into effect for Block Island and the rest of Rhode Island Thursday morning as the Category 4 storm continues to make its way up the east coast.

Many of the people were returning to the mainland from the island, fearing the hurricane will be stronger than expected.

Some people said it is not worth the risk to stay on Block Island.

However, others are showing no fear, saying it is an exciting time to be on the island.
