WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - The Department of Health has closed a very popular local beach to swimming.

The D.O.H. said Friday Oakland Beach in Warwick is now off limits to swimmers till further notice, due to high levels of bacteria in the water.

Officials are monitoring the water at all Rhode Island's beaches this summer, and post public notices for each change in status.
