CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- A former guard at the ACI in Cranston has been convicted of assaulting inmates.

Kenneth Viveiros was ordered to report to prison for nine months at a court appearance Thursday.

The execution of his sentence was delayed for years while he appealed his convictions in both Superior and Supreme Court.

His fellow guard, Gualter Botas, was also convicted on the same charge.
