WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - The Kent County YMCA in Warwick will reopen its doors Sunday for the first time in six weeks.
The main building at the branch was closed to complete several major construction projects . Features of the updated building include a redesigned and expanded Health & Wellness Center and enhanced program offerings.
“We are so excited to reopen our doors and show off the new space,” said Branch Executive Director Eileen Barber. “Most importantly, we’re eager to get back to the business of providing community members with the programs and services they need to maintain healthy lifestyles.”
During the construction, crews relocated and refurbished the personal fitness center. It is complete with brand new cardio equpment, and there is more space for stretching and core exercise.
Meanwhile, construction continues in other parts of the building as crews work to complete the Active Family Center which will allow families to pursue their health and wellness goals together. The remainder of the Expansion Project is expected to be completed by October 1.
