CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- A fire that damaged a Cranston home late Wednesday morning does not appear to be suspicious, the fire chief said.
When fire crews arrived on scene on Park Ave. about 11:30 a.m., thick smoke was pouring from the home.
The chief said it appeared the fire started in the basement.
No one was home at the time and no one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The chief did mention the fire dept. was at the home a couple of days ago for a carbon monoxide call, but said there was no indication that was related to the fire.
