16 arrested in Newport drug sweep

Suspects accused of dealing narcotics

NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Newport Police Dept. executed a drug sweep Thursday night and arrested 16 alleged crack cocaine dealers.

Lieutenant William Fitzgerald tells Eyewitness News that the drug sweep was a six-month undercover operation undertaken with the Drug Enforcement Agency, and netted 25 arrest warrants. 

The following 16 people have been arrested and charged:

  • Tommy Gotay, 32, two counts delivery of crack cocaine
  • Casey Mills, 40, two counts delivery of crack cocaine
  • Jose Jackson, 23, three counts delivery of crack cocaine
  • Ian Collin, 33, three counts delivery of cocaine
  • Thomas Dyer, 32, two counts conspiracy
  • Leah Sampson-Young, 31, conspiracy
  • Kathleen Bartlett, 50, three counts delivery of crack cocaine, conspiracy
  • Jessica George, 28, two counts delivery crack cocaine
  • Kaitlyn Bartlett, 19, delivery of crack cocaine
  • Kristi Carfora, 27, two counts delivery of cocaine, delivery of Percocet
  • Anthony Holloway, 33, delivery of crack cocaine
  • Ricky Adams, 50, four counts delivery of crack cocaine
  • James Antone, 56, delivery of cocaine
  • Khyel Jones, 40, delivery of crack cocaine, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine
  • Jessuem Nevarez, 30, delivery of Oxycontin
  • Stacey Platt, 46, delivery of crack cocaine

All the suspects are due to be arraigned in Newport District Court Thursday afternoon.
