MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- A man remains hospitalized after he barricaded himself inside his home and threatened to light both himself and the house on fire.

Police tell us they were called to Ludlow Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Monday after a relative of the man said he made claims about burning down his home with gasoline.

After several attempts, police were eventually able to get the man to surrender.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Newport Hospital to be evaluated. So far no word on if he will be charged in the incident.
