TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) - A Tiverton restaurant opened up it's doors to help the family of Cayla Almy who died last week after being thrown from a horse.

The fundraiser, a pancake breakfast at Family Ties, was attended by over a 100 people including her aunt and grandmother.

"It's just a amazing that everybody feels the way they do about our Cayla."

The breakfast was a time for friends and family to share stories.

"She was an awesome girl."

"Always had a smile on her face she, she could brighten up any room , she was just an amazing girl."

Becca Ferzan says when she joined the cheerleading team last year, Cayla made her feel at home.

"Last year I was the only freshman on the team she was the only person, who talked to me and helped me and just was there for me"

All the donations from the gathering will be given to her family.

The restaurant owners says it was all about community.

"It's close so it allows us to be a family when we need to," said Lauren Ferreira.

"Cayla had a big heart she is, always smiling, never a bad word about anybody. She loved her family and we all loved her."
